I can’t believe I am saying this but I found THE DRESS this weekend! I said YES to the dress and I couldn’t be happier. Now I only have to wait another 11 months until I can wear it for real 🙈
Even though I am so excited that I found my dress it still wasn’t easy! It took me visiting 3 bridal salons for me to find the one for me. And a few appointments left me in tears and not in the good way!
I learned a lot through my wedding dress journey and want to share what I learned before I said yes to the dress.
First, don’t go in expecting to find your dress right away. Finding your perfect dress is a journey so enjoy the ride! I left my first 2 appointments more confused then when I went in. I thought if I knew what I wanted then it would be easy but that is not always the case.
Second, its OK to look at dresses on your own. I made my first appointment with my Mom, Dad and sister because I wanted to share that “trying on a wedding dress for the first time” moment with them. But once I struck out at the first few appointments, I did a lot of research on my own and even made appointments to look at dresses alone.
Third, while it sounds so cliche, try on everything even if you don’t think you will like it! It might surprise you! My number 2 dress was a satin A line with a full skirt of crinoline. In the end you know what you want and sometimes you need to stick to that vision but when else will you get to play dress up in beautiful wedding gowns?!
Lastly, stick to your guns. I had one appointment that had me so overwhelmed because the salon was very forward and at one point I had 3 of their stylists helping me. While their intentions were in the right place, I was very overwhelmed and rather than let them push me into a buying decision I left empty handed. You will not regret standing your ground because in the end its your day.
I wouldn’t have found my perfect dress without the help of the amazing team at the Costal Knot! They were so welcoming and even opened the store a half hour early for me so I could have more time with family after. I can only hope that the rest of our wedding planning journey can be as relaxed and fun!
Special thanks to my Mom, Dad and sister for riding along on this crazy wedding journey. Without your support and patience I would for sure be a bridezilla!
AND just for fun, here are some pics of dresses that didn’t make the cut!
please excuse the terrible quality and funny faces
