I’ve started thrifting during these quarantine months as a way to get out of the house and shop without spending a ton of money. I went on a whim and really loved the everything about it. Every time you enter the store there is new inventory and new things to hunt through, making each visit lots of fun!
I also love that I can shop for nearly anything without worrying about seasonality! Upcoming tropical vacation in November? No problem! I’ve purchased sweaters in July and tank tops in August knowing each piece with be perfect when the time comes.
Sustainability is something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately when it comes to all of our purchases. Is it good for us? Is it good for the environment? When I shop secondhand, it’s like giving life to something that would have likely made its way to a landfill. And we are also giving jobs to those involved in reselling those items. Its’ a win-win!
And don’t let me forget the prices! On average, each piece I’ve purchased ranges from $3-5. So I can get 4 pieces for what would normally cost me for 1! I’ve even found items with tags still attached.
I’ve been going mainly to my local Goodwill but I am excited to start trying other thrift and consignment stores. If you have any recommendations on places to try, please leave them in the comments and I will add them to my list!
