You’ve probably heard me mention a few times that this year I am being very intentional in my shopping and choosing to shop small as much as I can. In fact, most of my earlier gift guide – Thoughtful Christmas Gifts – were all small businesses. And in an effort to continue to shop small this year I’ve rounded up a few ideas for the last minute Christmas shopper!
I am too much of a planner myself to put major presents to the last week of shopping, but there are always those stocking stuffers or surprise presents that are good to have a few extra on hand. Here are a few ways you can continue to shop small this holiday season even if you are a last minute Christmas shopper!
1 – Check out your local antique mall. You’d be surprised what hidden gems you can find. And their inventory is always changing too!
2 – If your ordering from a small businesses and your item won’t ship before the holiday, print our a nice picture of the gift and place it in a festive card. This way, they have something to open on Christmas day and they get to open another gift on the day it arrives!
3 – Local bookstores are another secret weapon of mine. There is something so special about spending a few minutes browsing book covers. And knowing someone picked out a book they thought you would love to read is very thoughtful!
4 – Stop by your local chocolate store. Everyone loves a sweet treat especially if its local!
5- For the true last minute Christmas shopper, handmade Christmas gifts are the perfect way of sentimental and practical! DIY ornaments, DIY decorations, homemade cookies on a decorative platter. Its the thought that counts right?!
This year is different for a lot of reasons but I hope that this spirit of helping and loving others through challenging times, sticks around for holidays to come!
